Upload problems
What each upload message means — the file type, its size, the daily number of files, expired files — and how to get your file in.
Files come into Studio through your Gallery. If one does not arrive, its tile says Not uploaded with the reason.
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| "File type not allowed" | Use a picture in JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF, a clip in MP4, MOV or WebM, or sound in MP3, WAV, OGG or M4A. |
| "File content does not match declared type" | The file's name says one type but it holds another. Export it again in one of the types above. |
| "That file is larger than Studio takes" | Studio takes files up to 2 GB. Export a shorter cut or a smaller file. |
| "That is as many files as one day allows on Studio — it opens again tomorrow." | You added 200 files today. Pick files already in your Gallery, or try tomorrow. |
| "Too many upload requests, please try again later" | You sent many files very quickly. Wait a minute and add the rest. |
| "That file did not arrive whole — pick it again." | The connection dropped during the upload. Pick it again. |
| "One of the files you added has expired — add it again." | Added files stay ready for 72 hours. Pick it again in the Gallery. |
| "This HEIC photo could not be read" | Export the photo as JPEG and add it again. |
| "Studio could not be reached just now" | See "Studio could not be reached". |
In a chat
A clip you bring to a chat is checked when it arrives. If the browser cannot open it, the chat suggests converting it — "Try converting it to MP4 (H.264) and uploading again." If a file is too large, the chat tells you the largest it takes.
On a phone
Large videos take a while on mobile data. Stay on the page until the upload finishes, or use Wi-Fi.
