Fovea, the reviewer beside ROUTIX
Fovea checks every picture the chat makes against your source and your request, and sends back a take that does not hold up — before it is built on.
In every chat, ROUTIX does not work alone. Beside it sits Fovea — a second agent whose only job is to look. ROUTIX makes; Fovea checks. Every picture the chat makes on the way to your video — a reference sheet, a frame, a storyboard — is held up against your source and against what you asked for, before anything is built on it.
The name is the eye's own: the fovea is the small point at the back of the eye where sight is sharpest. That is the look Fovea brings to each take.
What you see
- Fovea Agent — the title on Fovea's notes in the chat, with an open eye. Under it, one short line about what it found, for example "Strong take — it holds up against the source." or "One thing I could refine next take: …".
- While it looks, a frame reads "Fovea is reviewing this frame", and the chat's steps say "Checking this against the source".
- When a take needs another pass: "Preparing another take", and the frame card says "Fovea reviewed this frame against its target — running a refined take."
- On the key frame of a build, Fovea takes "One extra careful look at the key frame."
- In the reading of your video, the chapter Continuity — What stayed true is Fovea's. It says Fovea Agent realized when it is done.
- Fovea's full working notes live in Routix Mind, beside the chat.
Fovea never pretends. When it could not judge a take, it says so — "No read on this take — I'm not calling it either way." — and the frame is marked Not verified, rather than passed.
What Fovea does for you
It depends on how you let ROUTIX run (see Blind and Blink):
- Blind (the default): a take that does not hold up is never handed over as finished. ROUTIX makes a refined take on its own, and you see "Preparing another take" while it does. You do not have to do anything.
- Blink: Fovea's read is advice. ROUTIX stops, shows you the take with "Fovea's read: …", and your word decides. If you approve a take Fovea had doubts about, it is accepted and the work goes on.
Fovea's look has no price of its own. A new take is a new picture, priced like any picture the chat makes — and like every picture, it is kept only when it is delivered.
How strictly Fovea judges
You choose how readily Fovea sends a take back.
- In the composer, press the eye button — it reads ROUTIX decides, or the choices you made.
- In How I'll make this, find the last slider: How strictly Fovea judges, from Forgiving to Unsparing.
- Pick a level. The line under the slider says what it means.
| Level | What it means |
|---|---|
| Lenient | "A take is only sent back when Fovea answers that a difference makes it a different thing." |
| Standard | "Fovea's everyday judgment — an unresolved doubt can still send a take back." This is where every chat starts. |
| Exacting | "Same bar as Standard, and what Fovea noticed but let pass is spoken in its line instead of staying in its notes." |
Your choice is kept for that chat and applies from Fovea's next look. Exacting does not make more takes or cost more — it only tells you more. The slider is ready once the chat exists (after your first message).
Frequently asked questions
Does Fovea cost extra?
No. Its look has no price of its own. Only a new take costs anything, priced like any picture the chat makes.
Can I overrule Fovea?
Yes. Switch the chat to Blink and every take waits for your word: Approve accepts it, even if Fovea had doubts.
Does Fovea judge my battles in Studio?
No. Fovea works in the chat. In Studio's Eye to eye, the takes stand side by side and you are the judge.
