# Lengths, formats and quality

> What Optic accepts — how many seconds one revision takes, which video and picture files, how big, and the quality of the film you get.

## The stretch you revise

- **Up to 60 seconds per revision.** Your clip can be longer — you choose which seconds with the window on the timeline. If you push past the limit, the window slides instead of growing. The timeline always holds the exact limit.
- **Your film is the stretch you chose.** Revising the middle of a longer clip gives you a film of those seconds, with their own sound.
- **Right to the end.** A stretch can run to the very end of your clip; it ends on the clip's last frame.
- If a stretch is too short to revise, the timeline says so and asks for a longer one.

## Video files

| | |
| --- | --- |
| **Formats** | MP4, MOV and WebM |
| **Largest file** | 2 GB |
| **Files a day** | up to 200 files added to Studio per person |
| **How long a file stays ready** | 72 hours after you add it — picking it again in the Gallery makes it ready again |

If a file is refused, the page says why — for example *"File type not allowed"*. See [Upload problems](https://routix.studio/help/troubleshooting/upload-problems).

## Pictures you add

Pictures show Optic what something should become — a person, a garment, an object, a logo. Each is the whole new look: everything it shows of the subject comes into your video — see [Your picture is what you want](https://routix.studio/help/optic/what-optic-does#your-picture-is-what-you-want).

- **Formats:** JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF. Photos from a phone in HEIC are converted for you.
- **How many:** up to 9 in one revision. The **Add** chip counts the pictures you added and how many fit. If you add more than fit, Optic says how many it had room for. Within that, a revision is never turned down for carrying too many pictures.
- Pictures can be added once the range is confirmed. They are named **Image 1**, **Image 2** and so on, in order; drag to reorder them and your `@Image` mentions follow.

## Your words

The words box takes up to 40,000 characters. A counter appears when you pass 36,000. Most good prompts are a few sentences — see [Writing Optic prompts](https://routix.studio/help/prompts/writing-optic-prompts).

## The film's quality

Choose **Quality** before you press **Revise**: 720p or 1080p. It starts on 720p; 1080p costs more. Changing the quality changes the price you see.
