# How long a revision takes

> What happens after you press Revise, what the progress panel tells you, and why your film keeps going when you close the page.

## One press, then your film

When you press **Revise**, the work starts at once. Optic first reads the whole stretch you chose, then makes your film. **A longer clip takes longer** — to read and to make: a few seconds of footage is quicker than a full minute, and a long revision can take a good while. The panel **Your film** tells you where it is:

| You see | It means |
| --- | --- |
| *"Waiting its turn — yours is next."* | Your film is in line and starts next. You can still **Stop**; stopping while it waits costs nothing. |
| *"Reading your clip."* | Optic is reading the whole stretch — every shot, who and what is there, and what your words ask for. |
| *"Preparing what the change needs."* | Optic is preparing what your change needs before the film is made. |
| *"Making your film."* | The film itself is being made. |
| *"Finishing your film."* | The last steps before it is ready. |

Next to it you see how long it has been working (**Working · … s**) and the time left — *"about … min left"* or *"under a minute left"*. That estimate is worked out for your run from the seconds you chose, so a longer stretch shows a longer time; it is honest, not a promise. When many people are making at once, Studio shows *"High demand — your result may take a little longer."* Until the making starts, **Stop** is beside it.

## You do not have to wait on the page

Your film is made on ROUTIX's side, not in your browser. Close the page, lose your connection or switch devices — it keeps going and is waiting in Studio and in **History** when you come back. If you go offline, Studio says so: *"You're offline. Anything already being made keeps going — it will be here when you're back."*

## How many at once

Your plan sets how many of your makes can run at the same time. Anything more waits its turn and starts on its own — it is never refused for that. See [Plans and add-ons](https://routix.studio/help/credits/plans-and-add-ons).
