# Drawing, naming and editing a focus

> Draw an Area or place a Point, move and resize it, give it a name and a colour, and edit or delete focuses from the list.

Open the editor with **Focus** on your clip. Its header shows **Cancel** and **Done**; the frame is in the middle, the list of your focuses beside it.

## Draw a focus

1. Move to the moment you want with the timeline under the frame.
2. Choose **Area** or **Point** in the toolbar (or **+** in the list).
3. For an **Area**, press and drag around the subject. For a **Point**, tap on the subject.
4. In **Edit focus**, give it a name if you like and choose a colour.
5. Press **Apply**. The focus is saved to your account right away.

Only one new focus waits to be applied at a time — a new tap or drag replaces it, so unapplied marks never pile up.

## Move and resize

- **Move:** drag inside the focus.
- **Resize an Area:** pull its handles. On a computer, a small bar above the Area offers **Move** and **Resize**; *"Hold Shift to keep proportions"* while resizing.
- **Change the type:** on a computer, **Type** in **Edit focus** switches between **Point** and **Area**.

## Name and colour

- A focus is named by its number at first — **01**, **02** — and you can rename it up to 120 characters. The name you give it is how it is listed when you type `#` in your words — "girl", "red car". Its number never changes, so your mentions keep working after a rename.
- Choose one of 7 ready colours, press **+** for any colour, or type a colour's hex code.

## Edit or delete

- Click a focus on the frame, or choose it in the list, to edit it. The list can be searched with **Find a focus** — by number, name, type or colour.
- The **⋯** menu of a row offers **Edit focus** and **Delete focus**.
- **Delete focus** removes it at once and removes its `#Focus` mentions from your words. Other focuses keep their numbers.
- **Undo** (or Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z) reverses your last applied change.

## Keyboard

| Key | Does |
| --- | --- |
| Enter | Apply the focus you are drawing |
| Escape | Drop the new focus, or leave the one you are editing without saving; with nothing selected, close the editor |
| Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z | Undo |
| Arrow keys on a handle | Resize; with Shift, keep proportions |

## Finish

- **Done** applies the focus that is open and closes the editor.
- **Cancel** closes without applying the open one. Focuses you already applied stay.

A clip holds up to 500 focuses.
